CORTICEIRA AMORIM SHOWCASES SUSTAINABLE INSULATION PRODUCTS FOR URBAN RENEWAL PROJECTS
October 18, 2011Cork will be present at Concreta 2011.
Amorim Cork Insulation, a subsidiary of CORTICEIRA AMORIM, will be present at Concreta 2011 - the 25th International Building Materials exhibition, which will take place at Exponor - Oporto between 18 and 22 October, to showcase its newest solutions for urban renewal and construction projects.
In an innovative stand designed by architect Nuno Graça Moura, the Company will present a cutting-edge insulation solution, i.e., an insulation corkboard with built-in wooden slats called Lambourdé. Among the many advantages of this insulation solution especially designed for the rehabilitation of buildings, are its easy application on walls and floors and effective thermal and acoustic insulation properties, a hallmark feature of cork. Remember that the Portuguese government has been paying particular attention to this area and set up a EUR 1,000 million JESSICA Holding Fund.
According to Carlos Manuel da Silva, General Manager of Amorim Cork Insulation, "Cork is increasingly being recognized as a building material of the future. Focus on the use of cork solutions for urban regeneration projects: also worth mentioning was the rehabilitation of three buildings situated at the Historic Centre of Oporto, within the scope of the Architecture Competition EA'11 - Urban Challenges - which was promoted by the "Espaço de Arquitectura" portal in partnership with Porto Vivo -SRU, an initiative supported by CORTICEIRA AMORIM.
